"Good Times with The Monkees we keep on...
Monkeying Around Singing in Your Town"
It all started in 2015, both Micky Dolenz also
Peter Tork was thinking about The Monkees in
Hawaii, but Michael Nemith said he had stopped
touring. Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork still thought
there was an audience out there for them.
They trusted their gut; and it paid off big time for
them. How? With The Monkees going through with
our, naming it, Evening With The Monkees on
Friday, March 27, 2015, the tour kicked off in the
city of Indio, California at Fantasy Springs Event
Center. The result was 1,500 Monkee Fans, that had
gone wild with excitement. All 1,500 Monkee Fans,
stood up and did a standing ovation for them. The
poster is below for all to see.
Evening With The Monkees, was a great time.
But a special tour was to be done in England.
The Monkees scheduled a special concert on
September 4, 2015, at the Apollo, Hammersmith,
England.
The Monkees knew by then, that as long as there
were Monkee fans, they would have an audience. It
was evident by now, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork
cemented their relationship. They knew they could
rely on each other, knowing the other wouldn't let
the other person down.
How did The Monkees: Davy Jones, Micky-
Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork get
their start as The Monkees?
Mr. Basil Foster was assigned to teach Davy how
to be an apprentice jockey, but his jockey career
was short lived. Basil Foster encouraged Davy to
try out for the part of the "Artful Dodger " in the
production of Oliver! During casting for this very
musical of Oliver! Now, Foster Basil said: " I got
the kid ! " Davy Jones got the part in the famous
production of Oliver! It would be in London and
then next in New York. Davy Jones was young
who was sixteen. He would perform Oliver! on
The Ed Sullivan Show, opening for this popular
singing group called: The Beatles. This happened
on February 9, 1964. Listen as Davy Jones talks
about his experience with The Beatles : "That
night I watch The Beatles from the side of the stage.
It was this same episode as The Beatles first appear-
ance on The Ed Sullivan Show, I saw girls go crazy
and I said to myself this is it, I want a piece of
that . "
This really did happen when Davy Jones was at
eighteen. Davy Jones was signed to a contract.
Things would happen with Ward Sylvester of
Screen Gems a division of Columbia Pictures.
Davy Jones was nineteen-year-old-singer, his
dreams were going to happen when he was
signed to Colpix Records ,a label owned by
Columbia Pictures.
(Michael Nesmith was signed to Colpix
Records first.)
Davy was asked in screen test about being a
jockey and was asked to dance for them. So
Davy Jones did his signature shuffle dance.
They said jokingly to him: " You seriously should
have been a jockey." (Davy laughs)
(Davy Jones in The Monkees -"Never Look A-
Gift Horse In The Mouth, "did ride both bare-
back and with a jockey uniform to save a boys
horse.)
Davy Jones was waiting for a vehicle he could
use in a film. After " The Loving Spoonful " were
out because they were under contract. They had
decided to capitalize on The Beatles " Help ! "
and "Hard Days Night".
They tossed around names and someone shouted
"The Monkees," and it stuck.
Davy Jones was the one signed both to a
recording contract and film rights.
The Monkees idea was to have four guys with a
folk rock sound from different backgrounds. They
were to be Beatle-want-to-be. Like The Marx-
Brothers as John Lennon said. However, they were
to act as musicians, who really knew how to play
musical instruments to be accepted.
They were under contract not to play their own
instruments. Professional musicians would play
all the music. Peter Tork was ready to play, being
accomplished musician. But they said to Peter:
" you don't understand, the music is all finished."
Peter was very unhappy, as was Michael, being
the two must gifted musicians and songwriters.
Micky Dolenz was blond as a boy, playing the
sweet innocent boy as Corky. He had his own,
musical group called: "The Missing Links"
before The Monkees.
When Micky Dolenz went in for his screen
test, he had on white tennis shoes; and a tan
sweater. He had acoustic guitar and was very

Peter Tork was born in Washington DC in the

he had to play the drums. Also, Davy played drums.

In August 1966 it is Monkee Day; and both
Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz are sharing
an apartment; when on comes "Last Train To-
Clarksville". Both Davy and Micky say this:
"They're Playing Our Song".
On January 22, 1966 The Monkees aired on our
television screens, and we fell in love with them.
Michael Nesmith said: "On The Monkees
set, Davy Jones and himself, would like to tell
each other new jokes and even if the other one
did not get the punchline, just by looking at the
others face, would make the other laugh."
Micky Dolenz said: "Davy Jones loved playing
soccer, so by their airplane, there would be grass
close by the plane, so Davy Jones could play his
soccer."
Micky Dolenz would nickname Davy Jones:
"The Manchester Cowboy" and Peter Tork,
would call him: "Jonesy".

How The Monkees Good Times album
came about ? Good Times came to life, as
Micky Dolenz told: "We found Gold while
rummaging through the band's vast studio
tapes. Andrew Sandoval always digging
around in the vaults and came upon 50
unfinished tracks. Some vocals, some with-
out, some just mono and some multi-track.
Stuff we never finished."
The Monkees, Good Times features newly
vocals and music and songwriting contributions
from the three surviving members Micky Dolenz,
Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork as well as rare
archival performances from Davy Jones.
Good Times by respected rock songwriters, like
Weezer's River Cuomo, Noel Gallagher, also we
have, Jam Paul Weller, XTC Andy Partridge, wild
Death Cab for Cuties-Ben Gibbard and the cool
Fountains of Wayne Schlesinger who produced
the album.
There is Davy Jones on "Love to Love" by the
famous Neil Diamond songwriter. Michael Nesmith
is lead on three new songs with Micky Dolenz and
Peter Tork who are contributed to the album, which
shows all the songs with the artists.

The record features newly finished versions
The Monkees began working on during the 60's
but didn't complete. Harry Nilsson-penned the
Good Times, Neil Diamond's "Love to Love" and
songs written by Carol King&Gerry Goffin, also
Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart, Berry& Levine
song Gotta Give It Time. Good Times features
Dolenz dueting with with the guide vocal that
Nilsson laid down when he began working on the
tune in the late 60's. Love to Love features vocals
of Davy Jones recorded back in the day. Nesmith
penned I Know What I Know. Tork wrote the cool
title track, Little Girl. Last Dolenz co- wrote the
album closer, I Was There (and I'm Told I Had a-
Good Time.) Then Wasn't Born To Follow, written
by Carol King/Garry Goffin, next another song by
Tommy Boyce/Bobby Hart, Whatever's Right and
last, Our Own World by Adam Schlesinger.

Donna Loren was a good friend of Davy Jones,
singing Hard To Believe, from The Monkees.
On May 27, 2016, "She Makes Me Laugh"
comes to your stores. Also Good Times, The
Album Of The Monkees, Is Released.
She Makes Me Laugh recaptures vintage
jangling guitar of Headquarters/Pisces
period. The single "She Makes Me Laugh"
is done in the old Dell The Monkees comic
book style. I just love this song, if I had the
money, I buy this single. I just love the pretty
carrot top hair beauty, that captures both of
The Monkees, Davy Jones and Peter Tork's
hearts. She has very beautiful eyes too. This
song talks about being with her day and night,
so when Micky Dolenz sings, She Makes Me-
Laugh, as if he is singing the feelings, we do
have for the girl or women we love.
Next,"Me & Magdalene written by Ben Gibbard.
Michael Nesmith sings lead and Micky Dolenz
sings second lead. It is a song about this woman
Magdalene who is in Carmel and the sun is setting
on the beach, who seems to getting be in his car
with her sweetheart, driving and now she's in a
canyon.Anyway I picture this as Nesmith is
singing the song. I get this vibe, by listening to the
music. There are two versions of this song, I've did
hear both versions.
There were many tracks of the
album added. "Love To Love," Davy Jones sings a
